Our fifth concert, Missa Ave Maris Stella was originally scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 28, 2021, a mere one day past the 500th anniversary of Josquin des Prez's death. Sadly, COVID-19 derailed our plans.
Luckily, we managed to regroup and extended our fling into the fall. Our concert finally took place on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Bellevue, WA. Below you will find links to photos, programs, and samples from the concert.
For our long-delayed 5th season, we recognized the 500th anniversary (quincentenary) of the death of Josquin des Prez, one of the most influential early composers. Our program this year was built around one of Josquin’s earlier mass settings, the lovely Missa Ave Maris Stella, plus a Josquin-attributed motet based on the famous Ave Maris Stella plainchant.
Missa Ave Maris Stella was coached and conducted by Anne Lyman. Anne is the Artistic Director of Sine Nomine: Renaissance Choir, and Director of Choral Activities at Tacoma Community College, among her many musical pursuits.
Our 2021 participants (back row, left-to-right): John LaFond, Carl Bolstad, Doug Wyatt, Heather Irwin, Dawn Fosse Cook, Gail Erickson; (front row, left-to-right): Trevor Tsang, Aaron Giles, Jim Whitehead, Anne Lyman, Elaine Tsang, Pamela Silimperi.
Below are some videos of a few works from our 2021 concert: You can also view the full concert via this YouTube playlist.
